Aftermarket Cam Position Magnet, 03-05 Neon/SRT-4/03-10 PT Cruiser
Model Number: 220237-MAGNET
April 2023 - Mopar has discontinued the cam sensor magnet, and we have had to switch to this aftermarket supplied cam sensor magnet.
If your Neon has been running a little rough and you are getting a check engine code: P0344, this code is for CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR INTERMITTENT. The idle can be rough and the engine will not rev past 2300rpms with this code.
Replacing the camshaft sensor will sometimes help but in some cases the problem is that the magnet needs to be replaced as well. Replacing both the sensor and magnet with new units is usually the fix needed to clear P0344.
This magnet works on all 2003-2005 Neons, 2003-2005 SRT-4's, also all 2003-2010 PT Cruisers.
Tech tip: Nigel at BrutalSpeed in NC once mentioned that when he installs these cam magnets, he puts RTV on the camshaft/back of the magnet. We believe he does this for two reasons 1) Bring the magnet a little closer to the sensor 2) Gives a little squish to the magnet to help prevent the magnet from cracking upon installation. We highly recommend you do this when installing.
Tech tip2: this needs to be torqued to 30 inch lbs on the camshaft. We have seen lots of people tighten these too hard, and crack the magnet, which will affect the cars idle/running. Be careful, use a torque wrench when replacing this magnet!
