What is the hp rating the crankshaft is capable of?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

We have never heard of a crankshaft failure with up to 600-700hp. The crankshaft is not a weak point, its normally rods, pistons for extreme builds.

Is this a balanced crankshaft or do we need to send it out to the machine shop ?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Yes, this is a balanced crankshaft. You could have your local machine shop do some micro balancing if you wanted but it is definitely not necessary.

Is the crank cast or forged?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

This crankshaft is cast, and not forged. However, with that being said, this crank is very strong and can easily handle upwards of 500-600 horsepower with no problem.

Does the crank need a strap kit making over 500+
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

At around 500-550 HP and higher its a good idea to have a crank strap kit, yes.

if my motor is .20 over will this crank work ?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

This crankshaft is a standard size, uncut bearing size crankshaft. Meaning if your engine has not been machined, this will work perfectly. If your motor has been machined and you have 20 thousandth over size bearings, thats because your old crankshaft was machined, and you are using oversize bearings. If you want to use a new crankshaft like this one, you can do that, however you'd need to use standard size bearings with this crankshaft.

how much power can this oem handle before failure if it's a failure point at all? Also would this be a good option to keep with the je piston and eagle rod kit?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

We've never heard of a single Crankshaft failure regardless of power levels. Its not a weak point. The factory rods/pistons are good up until about 430 horsepower, so thats the weak point in the rotating assembly.
