BC Coilover Suspension for the 2001-2010 Chrysler PT and GT Cruiser. These coilovers are an incredible value for the money. These coilover units include not only the coilover itself, which has 32 levels of dampening adjustment, but they also have:

  • Camber plates built in the front units. A $200 Value by themselves!
  • The front coilovers have pillow ball mounts for better handling./li>
  • The front coilover upper hub bolt holes are slotted for additional camber adjustment.
  • Come with a one year warranty.

Coilovers allow you to lower your PT/GT anywhere from 1 inch to 3 inches without compromising ride quality. If you lower your car 1 inch, or 2 inches or 3 inches, you'll have the same amount of suspension travel. This is quite different than lowering springs, which if you lower your car 2 inches, then you have 2 inches less strut travel, which makes it easier to bottom out and have a harsh ride!

What are the front and rear spring rates for these?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

6k front, 5k rear. That equates to about 360 ft lb front, and 300 ft lb rear. Stock spring rates are normally around 200 in the front, and about 150 in the rear. So this coilover set has higher rates for better handling and cornering but is not a severe harsh spring rate like we have seen in some other aftermarket coilovers. Some others have 450-500 ft lb spring rates which is absurd.

Are these rebuild able front and rear?

Yes, BC North America in Florida sells all sorts of replacement parts. You can also get replacement shock cartridges if you need. Its good to have a company that supports its product afterwards like BC, most other coilover companies will sell you coilovers, and there is no support afterwards. If you blow a strut, or get in an accident and need replacement parts, with most other companies you have to buy another complete set of coilovers.

How do you adjust the rear ride height ?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

The front of the PT Cruiser has a normal strut and spring type design, and if you want to adjust the height you adjust the two upper spring perch rings. On the rear, the PT Cruiser has a shock and seperate spring design. If you want to lower your PT cruiser in the rear, you'll need to adjust the lower spring perch adjustable rings, and adjust the height of the shocks with the threaded sleeve.

can I use this kit to lift my car(mainly the rear) and if yes how much thanks dan

No, that is not what these are for. Coilovers are designed to lower a car anywhere from 1-3 inches. These will not allow a car to be raised. You could custom order coilovers that have taller springs and longer valved struts, if you really are serious about doing this.

Can I use this kit to improve my suspension WITHOUT LOWERING? It's time to replace my twenty-year-old suspension, but I'd like to 'hot-rod' it to get a SOFTER ride. (Roads here are terrible!) WIll this help? Do I need to buy airshocks?

Coilovers are designed to lower a car. Sure, you could raise the car a little with coilovers, maybe up to an inch but that is only a guess. Coilovers always have a higher spring rate than factory so your ride will be more firm, not softer with coilovers. If you want to raise your car and want a softer ride then perhaps you should look at OEM style struts/springs and try to find some way to raise the car.
