Center Engine Mount (Frame Rail Mount), 00-05 Neon / 01-10 PT Cruiser
Model Number: 220240-SUPPORT
The 00-05 Neon, 03-05 Neon SRT-4, and 01-10 PT Cruiser all use several mounts to keep the engine in place. There is a transmission side mount on the driver side, and there is the center engine mount in the frame rail on the passenger side. The engine hangs from these two mounts, and the upper and lower torque mounts (engine mounts) on the passenger side keep the engine from rocking forward and back.
Over time, generally by around 90,000-120,000 miles, the center engine mount will be completely worn out. You may start experiencing extra vibration from the engine. This is caused by the engine rocking and bottoming out the mount.
It's important to replace worn out center mounts, because if yours is loose it can cause excess wear on axles, and other mounts.
We have a photo showing the inside of the wheel well on the passenger side. If you remove the wheel, you will see a plastic circular inspection cover. If you remove that cover and find the bolt head in the center of the hole, then your center mount is still in good condition. If you remove that cover and find the bolt head is near the bottom of the inspection cover hole, or even partially concealed, the mount is bad and the engine is likely sagging on the passenger side.
This part fits all:
- 00-05 Neon (includes Neon SRT-4)
- 01-10 PT Cruiser (includes PT Cruiser GT)
