The question is what is the specific limitations in regards to horsepower with this. Clutch. It is listed in ll the other ones this being the exception. In addition I would like to know how it compares to the stock clutch in regards to practicality in a primary vehicle. Namely mine.
    1 Answer
    • Modern Performance

The stage 1 clutch is perfect for SRT4's that have bolt on parts, and a mild boost in power (ie, 15-50 wheel horsepower), but still have the factory turbo.

I'm looking into buying this clutch kit for my 05 neon srt-4. Will I need longer bolts or will the stock ones do?
    1 Answer
    • Modern Performance

Your stock bolts will work just fine.

    What is the hp/torque rating?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

This clutch can handle up to about 340-350 hp. Great for Neon SRT4's with bolt on mods and stock turbo.
  • Ryan
I purchased this clutch for my srt4. I've read that there is a 500 mile breakin period prior to getting into the boost. Does that mean city (stop and go) miles?

I commute on the highway 50% of my driving. Should I extend the breakin to 1000 miles?

Also I have a DSP Intune. I'm worried I've purchased the wrong clutch based on what people say in the forums. Everything I purchased for my car was through MP now have finished the installs. When is it safe to start testing and tuning my car?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

Correct, the break in period for clutches is 500 miles of stop and go driving. This gives the clutch plenty of engagement and disengagement to properly break in the disc.

You can start giving 100% throttle after break in.

Is a clutch alignment tool necessary for this clutch install?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

This is a modular clutch, and it does not require use of a alignment tool. Only non modular clutches need an alignment tool.

    What is the warranty coverage?
What is the difference on the factory clutch and the clutchmaster stage 1 ?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

The Clutchmasters clutch comes with a 90 day warranty through the manufacturer. The difference between this clutch and the oem is that this clutch can hold about an extra 40% more power over the factory clutch so its a great choice for modified SRT-4's and SRT-4's with more power/boost.

I'd like to know what is the max torque?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

This clutch will be good up to about 350-365 lbs of torque at the wheels.
  • Ramses
This clutch should hold e85 with stock turbo then , right?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

As long as you have the stock turbo, this will handle anything you could ever do mod wise except nitrous and you might be able to do 35/50 but not 75 shot of nitrous. Everything else, doesn't matter what you do, air intake, exhaust, boost controller, etc, this can handle it.

Is there a warranty on this clutch?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Clutchmasters offers a 90 day warranty. The great thing about Clutchmasters is that they build their assemblies in house, and have rebuild components in stock. So if you ever need a rebuild or have any issue, they can rebuild it. Contact Clutchmasters directly if you ever have an issue with your clutch first to discuss with them.

Should I get Flexplate bolts or flywheel bolts for this clutch kit?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

This clutch uses a OEM flexplate, so it uses flexplate bolts. You can get the OEM bolts in the Flexplate components listing (use search bar with Flexplate term) or you can get the ARP flexplate bolts.
  • Dave Roemer
What is the average life of a Stage 1 clutch compared to an OEM clutch?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

The OEM clutch is designed to give 100-150k of driving and withstand about 330 lbs of torque.

Performance clutches, are designed for spirited driving and more horsepower handling capacity. With that being said, we would expect a performance clutch to have a shorter life. The way you drive, the materials used in the clutch, etc will determine the life of a performance clutch.
