These cams can also be used in 01-02 non-turbo PT Cruiser, but the cam magnet will have to be modified. Contact us for more details if you have an 01-02 PT Cruiser.

Crower makes camshafts for the 03-05 Neon SRT-4 with brand new billet cast core camshafts, and then grinds one of three different cam profiles into the camshaft.

Customer Vehicle w/ Crower Stage 3 Cams.

Note: You must use performance valve springs with these camshafts. If you do not, your factory valve springs may fail, causing catastrophic damage if the valves were to drop and contact the pistons. It is not worth the risk! Purchase performance valve springs. They're not very expensive.

will the stage 3 crower cam work on an all stock neon srt4?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

Yes, however we would prefer you not install camshafts in a stock Neon SRT4 as there are better upgrades for your car. You should be looking at intake, exhaust, Diablosport tuner, intercooler, etc before considering a set of camshafts.
  • Nick
When you buy these cams does it come as a pair or do you have to buy two?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

These are sold in sets of two. One intake camshaft and one exhaust camshaft.

I bought the stage 2 camshafts, springs and retainers with cam gears. Do I need a multi-layer head gasket to lift the head to make sure there is clearance between the valves and pistons because of the new duration? Or does the stock head gasket and head set up work with no worry of interference?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

The Neon SRT4 is a low compression motor, 8.0:1 and does not need a head gasket change due to camshaft change. Now, if you were installing big cams on a normally aspirated car that might be a concern, but not for the SRT4. Stock head gasket is perfect.

Does stage 3 cams require adjustable gears or can I use the stock cam gears?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

Cam gears are never required. They are just nice to have to be able to tune for further power.

MY 04 SRT-4 has all of the basic bolt on's, how much HP would the Stage 1 cams get me? I'm still stock turbo (bolt ons - BFMIC, exhaust, intake, WG, etc)
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

You'd net about 10 hp, maybe slightly more. With a bigger turbo, more boost, and better tuning you'd gain even more!
  • Tommy
I'm building my motor with MpX rebuild kit and wanted to know with stage 2 cams can I just install valve springs and no retainer kit? Will The motor be good ?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

Perfect, yes, all you need to use is valve springs. Retainers are nice to replace if they are in the budget but not required. Yes, the motor will be fine.
  • Moe
I have a srt4 neon ago wastegate 18 psi stock turbo after market exhaust intake stage 1 syked ecu could I I stall some stage 2 crower cams? If so what will I need as well and what kind of weight of oil to start using thanks
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

Cams can be installed on any Neon SRT-4. But what makes for better efficiency, is the more mods, the more boost your SRT-4 is running. If you have a bigger turbo, then it will work even better. Just install new valve springs that we offer, and we recommend Mobil 1 Synthetic.
  • Coltin
I want stage 4 cams In my car but what would you recommend I should get for it? It's got a built motor 9:1 ratio and a 63mm turbo and all supporting mods and the head is ported on exhaust side.
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

The higher the grind of cam, the more likely you'll have a poorer idle, and less of a bottom end power. So, the larger the turbo, and more power you are making, the larger the cam you'll typically use. With that being said, the most popular cam we offer from Crower for the Neon SRT-4 is the stage 3. Stage 2 is good as well for better lower end drivability.

If I buy the cam stage 2 I know I will need the valve springs but is there anything else I will have to do to my motor? Imnpushing 19lbs of boost with aem cai,ag wg ,type x bov,big intercooler ,mishimoto radiator,3bar map sensor,750cc injectors will I be fine to daily it? Thank u
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

These cams can be installed in any SRT-4 from 250whp to 650hp. The more horsepower your SRT-4 has, the more these are beneficial. There is nothing else needed other than valve springs.
  • joseph
Do these fit in the 1995-1999 2.0/2.4 dohc neon head you sell?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Yes, these can be installed in a earlier 2.0/2.4 but you'd have to adjust the cam magnet 90 degrees. Also, most early 2.0/2.4 guys seem to prefer the Neon line of cams, not SRT-4 type cams.
  • Orlando Garcia
Hey, I was thinking about buying the stage 3 cams, would I need a custom tune besides the valve springs? By the way I have a Diablosport tuner, intake, big intercooler, and exhaust.
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

The more mods you have, the bigger turbo you have, the more power you'll make with aftermarket cams. You do not need a custom tune to run these, but if you get a custom tune you'll make even more power due to an optimized air/fuel mixture ratio.
  • Tyler
When Installing these we line the timing marks up same as you would stock right?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

      Yes correct.
  • Rodrigo
Can these cams just be dropped in without adjusting values or do the values have to be adjusted? And do these require head studs?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

You do not need to adjust valves for use with aftermarket camshafts. Just use Crower valve springs and you are all set valvetrain wise. Head studs are not required unless you have over 500 horsepower and are afraid of your cylinder head lifting or if you plan on removing the cylinder head often.
  • Daniel
I am interested in buying the stage 3 cam in the future. My question is there a way to change the valve springs and retainers without removing the head? And if there is what tool can I use or do yall sell a tool or can I get info on where yo get it? I've changed springs on a ls1 before with the piston in the top dead center position. Can you do that on the srt4?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

There was a tool made by a company called Miller Special tools that allowed the valve springs to be removed without the head being removed off the engine. This used compressed air through the spark plug hole to keep the valves up, and then had a tool that compressed the valve spring allowing the removal of the retainer, and spring. However, that tool is not cheap, unless you can find it used, it may be more efficient to just pull the head off the engine and maybe do some maintenance work at the same time, ie new timing belt and water pump.
  • Scott
If I go with the stage one cams. Would I need the springs and keepers set or could I just get the springs and use the stock keepers?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

There is only one model of keeper for the factory valves - factory keepers. They are fine from 200hp all the way up into the 600-700 hp. So, you would get Crower valve springs with your choice of cam, and use them with your factory keepers.
  • Dylan
If i get the stage 1 or two will either require a tune?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

You can use these camshafts with a stock ecu/pcm. However, if you do get a custom tune done, your car will run even better. Neon SRT4's and PT Cruisers with aggressive camshafts (stage 2/3+) will have a poor idle, and so if you did get a tune, you'd have better power, and drivability are lower rpms. Mild cams like stage 1's are fine and require no tuning.
  • Sam
If I were to order the stage 1 cams for my 06 PT GT would I need to replace the valve springs or can I use the factory springs?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

We have cam spec cards in the photos showing all of the cam profile info. The stage 1 cam spec card says you can use stock valve springs with stage 1 cams.
  • samuel bonas
So when purchasing cams, i know ill need performance valves. Which would be the better option for me? 221268 or 221269? 04 SRT4
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

You do not need performance valves, you need performance valve springs. You can use Crower springs with your stock retainers, or you can use the Crower spring and retainer kit if you want a lighter, stronger retainer for use with high rpm's.
  • Zach
Can I put the stage 3 cams in my pt gt with just the valve springs or do I have to get the retainers too?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

You can use your OEM retainers, or aftermarket, your choice.

what's the difference between Brian crower and crower?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Brian Crower and Crower, two different cam companies with the same family name. From what we hear, the son decided to break away from the fathers company and start his own cam company.
Beyond that, Crower has more duration and less lift. Brian Crower has more lift and less duration. It seems the community favors the Crower cams more.
Crowers seem to have more of a noticeable cam lope sound as well.
