JE Piston / Ring & Eagle Rod Package, 95-05 Neon 2.0L/95-99 Eclipse NA

Model Number: 221182-

Modern Performance now offers JE Pistons & Rings, along with Eagle Rods, for a lower package price!

We take our line of JE Pistons in your choice of 8.5/8.9:1 compression, 10.5:1 compression, or 12.0:1 compression and package them together with JE Piston Rings and Eagle Connecting Rods.

Note: The low compression pistons are intended for turbo use, and are only available in 0.020 over-bore. This piston will have an 8.5:1 compression in a DOHC application, and an 8.9:1 compression in a SOHC application.

This package is great for those of you wanting to rebuild your motor, but not wanting to purchase an entire engine rebuild kit. This way you can get the forged internals, but build your motor with whatever components you want.

With this kit you will save a significant amount of money as a packaged deal, and you'll also save yourself the trouble of having to buy components from many different places. One kit from Modern Performance is all you need!

Be sure to select the compression and size of your choice from the drop down menus.

Piston Specs:

  • Dome/Dish requires no deburring or preparation
  • 2618 T6 high tensile forged aluminum
  • JE designs are specifically engineered for extreme applications up to, and including, professional competition. In this environment, the higher compression ratios or heavy nitrous usage necessitate the higher tensile strength 2618 aluminum alloy.
  • Dome and dishes feature smooth flowing radii for excellent flame travel.
  • .827 x 2.250 straight wall carbon steel wrist pin provided.
  • Pin fitting and spiro locks included

Eagle Connecting rod specs:

  • Made from a TWO-PIECE FORGING
  • X-rayed, sonic-tested & magna-fluxed as part of Quality testing.
  • The manufacturing process of these forgings is designed in such a way that it ensures a superior fatigue life by forcing the grain into the shape of a Connecting Rod. To strengthen the Connecting Rod, the rod cap is forged separately to enable the grain to run perpendicular to the load forces. Eagle "ESP" Connecting Rods use 4340 steel to allow maximum flexibility in using different materials to achieve optimum results. These Connecting Rods also contain a high content of nickel & chrome to achieve greater strength and fatigue life.
  • These rods come with the new ARP 1.5 2000 series bolts which use a hefty 3/8 bolt with a 7/16 head. These are much stronger than previous generations of ARP bolts used with Eagle rods.

Ask a Product Question

  • David Uribe
Does this come with rod bearings?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Just as shown in the photos and the description, this is for pistons, rings, wrist pins, locks and connecting rods. Rod bearings are not included.
  • Zachary Detra
Are these pistons forged in this kit?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Yes, all of the JE pistons we carry are forged aluminum. These can withstand extreme temperatures and abuse.
  • Andrew
Do you know how much boost these will be able to handle?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

With the right temperatures, and air fuel ratios, these pistons could handle upwards of 35-40 psi of boost. Whats far more important, is your tune, and what your air fuel ratio is with your engine. That will destroy a set of forged pistons, not boost pressure.

Was wondering if the JE 12.0:1 pistons can be installed in a DOHC 2.0 420a Mitsubishi Eclipse GS? I am aware the cylinder head s are reversed, do know the bottom ends have similarities. Thanks for your advic and knowledge.

    • Customer Service Rep

Yes, the 2.0 Neon and the 2.0 Non turbo Eclipse share a lot of engine parts, and pistons are definitely interchangeable. We recommend 12.0:1 pistons only for race use, with race fuel, and 10.5:1 pistons for street use.

If i put the dohc pistons in a sohc will it have a slight more compression just like the factory pistons thanks
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Yes, putting dohc pistons in a sohc would increase the compression by about 3 tenths of a point.
