Mopar Transmission Fluid (ATF+4), 03-05 Neon SRT-4

Model Number: 601805-KIT

This is a package of three quarts, or three bottles of MOPAR ATF fluid.

This is the original transmission fluid used in the Neon SRT-4 from the factory. When you have a good amount of mileage on your car, or are doing a clutch job and want to refresh the manual trans fluid, you can now purchase the fluid Mopar specifies from Modern Performance!

We list this fluid as manual transmission fluid, however it is labeled as ATF+4 (Automatic transmission fluid), so you might be a little puzzled. Mopar used ATF+4 in the Neon SRT-4 and Caliber SRT-4, so as strange as it might seem, this is the correct stuff!

03-05 Neon SRT-4 Fill Capacity: 3 Quarts

Note: WE have heard a lot of feedback from SRT-4 owners running Royal Purple Synchromesh and Pennzoil Synchromesh with good results.

Will this fluid be used for power steering?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

No, the power steering system uses power steering fluid, and not transmission fluid.

You are saying "if I drive my car hard to put 10w30 motor oil in my transmission"? Those are 2 completely different things and you definitely do not want to put motor oil in your transmission.

Yes, you definitely want to put Mobile one, high mileage MOTOR OIL in your transmission. We have been doing it since 2009/2010. You can do your research and find out why retired Chrysler Engineer Ed Peters recommends doing this by watching the Ed Peters tech talk on youtube.

Does this also works for Chrysler Neon 2002 (2.0L, 5-speed NVG T-350 manual gearbox)? Manual says to put ATF+4 fluid in transmission and I am planing soon to replace stock worn clutch with aftermarket stage 1 clutch (car is completely stock). Should I fill transmission it with ATF+4 or Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w/30 with ZDDP? Side note: I do a lot of city driving (with a LOT shifting, stop and go) and also live in Canada where the cold is extreme in the winter months (-35C to -15C) Thanks!

Yes, the second ge 00-05 Neon with manual transmission uses the ATF+4 from the factory as well. So, this indeed will work with your Neon. If you prefer the OEM fluid, then get this. Or, like we mentioned on this product page, if you would like better protection you can source your own Mobil One 10w/30 high mileage engine oil to use in your transmission.

If i want to use Mobile high mileage should i use 10w30 as you say or 10w40 as in the video with Ed Peters

    • Customer Service Rep

We've used 10w/30, but sure if Ed Peters said 10w/40 in his video then use that.

I have a dodge neon srt4 05. I would like to inquire if i can use 5w-30 high mileages. I try to look for 10w-30. Some how most of the store i check is out of stock. Thank you i really appreciate if you could help me.

We were told to use Mobil One 5w30 engine oil by our Chrysler engineer friend, and so we are passing that along to you. Will other similar grades work? Maybe, but we are not engine oil specialists and cannot advise you.
  • Thomas
Do you still recommend the Mobil 1 10/30 full synthetic high mileage with the apparent decrease in zddp level?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Yes. see the video explaining the benefit of using Mobil One in your transmission in the Ed Peters tech talk on youtube:

Do I need to use friction modifier with this or is it kind of an all in one. I've never done a tranny fluid change!
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

A retired Chrysler engineer friend of ours, Ed Peters has told us that he prefers not to use the friction modifier and recommends either ATF+4, or to use the Mobil One that we recommend on this page.

Can 4 quarts be ordered instead of 3? For ATX
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Sure. You can call us to order 4 quarts, or (preferred) place an order in the cart for 3, and then call us shortly afterwards so we can add one extra quart and bill your credit card for it.
  • Josh
If I run the mobile one do I still need to add the friction modifier?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

No, the friction modifier was only used with the ATF+4 by Chrysler to help quieten down the transmissions. We were told by Ed Peters, our retired Chrysler engineer friend that the friction modifier was not actually needed.
