The MPx Adjustable Cam Gears for the 03-05 Neon SRT-4 / 95-99 Neon 2.4L Swap / 01-10 PT Cruiser were designed and put into production for the following reasons:

  • Other aftermarket cam gears for the 2.4L engine have had several failures in which the inner spokes of the cam gear have cracked, and the cam gear has failed.
  • Other aftermarket cam gear manufacturers frequently experience delays, causing their 2.4L cam gears to be out of stock more often than they are in stock.

So, what has MPx done differently? We set out to create 2.4L cam gears that customers wouldn't have to worry about failing, and that were both affordable and readily available! We start with machined aluminum solid centers for superior strength, then use 1/4 grade 8 flanged head bolts, and anodize with a hard coat for superior protection against corrosion and wear.

Unlike most other aftermarket cam gears, the MPx 2.4L Cam Gears will fit under the stock plastic timing covers.

Is it normal for the intake cam to be half a notch off when the timing is at tdc after install and setting tension and seating the belt on these? I have the stage 2 Crower cams installed as well. I have done the timing procedure about 5 times and the cam timing is always off when crank is at tdc. Thanks.

Will these fit a 2.4 swap with 2.0 cams
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

As long as its a 2.4 head these cam gears will work. It does not matter which cams you are using. This is because of the offset of the cam gear.

Just installed your cam gears on my full bolt on srt4 can you recomend how to degree them with stock cams
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

In most cases, we see power gains by advancing the intake cam, and retarding the exhaust cam. HOWEVER, this may not work well for your particular setup/cam choice/tune, etc. To properly set your car up for the power level you want, you need to get your car on a dynamometer and do some dyno tests to see where advancing and retarding your cam gears makes more power at.

So I did a 01 2.4 pt bottom end with a 98 neon dohc head with the 2.0 cams. Will they mount correctly for the swap i did?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

The 1995-1999 Dodge Neon 2.0 cylinder head is identical to the 2.4 cylinder head used in many 1995-2000 Chryslers. Therefore, you can use your Neon Dohc head with a 2.4 PT bottom end with no issues, and use the MPx cam gears no problem.

hi there guys, wondering if these are road legal in california?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Probably not. CARB (California Emissions Laws) are very strict and almost nothing except a basic air intake is ruled illegal. Anything that can be seen, and recognized as not factory equipment is likely going to cause issues for you in California.
