Looking for a replacement ECU? 2001-2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser

We have found that the majority of electrical problems are caused by wiring issues, and or ground connections. However, if you are certain you need a replacement ECU for your PT Cruiser, here are some resources that might help you out.

1) There is a guy named Mike Ismaily on Facebook that is a PT Cruiser enthusiast and he seems to have the connection for ecu's. Link to his Facebook page, you can send him a message directly.

For those of you that have a 2007-2009 (turbo model only) and want to use the Diablosport performance tuner, Diablosport only supports the 2003-2006 turbo models. HOWEVER, Mike Ismaily can get you a 03-06 Turbo ECU, flash it with the 07-09 Tune with your vin so you can use it in your 2007-2009 Turbo PT Cruiser with the Diablosport.

2) Search on Ebay for a new ECU. You have to make sure your vin number is programmed into the replacement ecu. If your vin number doesnt match the one on the ecu, your PT wont start. So, search for PT Cruiser ECU or PT Cruiser PCM on EBay and try to match your year and transmission. If the seller does not offer vin number programming ask if they know anyone that can do it for you as that is critical.

Note, there are different generations of ECU's for the PT and these ecu's are generally interchangeable within their generations, but not between generations.

2001-2002 are called SBEC computers.

2003-2005 is called NGC.

2006-2010 is the last group.

For the most part, as long as you stick to the same engine (turbo or non turbo) and transmission, a replacement computer within that group can be used with your car if its vin flashed. IE, if you have a 2003 Automatic Turbo you can get a computer from a 2005 automatic turbo. If you have a 2001 Non turbo manual you can use a 2002 Non turbo manual computer. You cannot use a 2007 Manual computer in a 2001 automatic PT. Keep that in mind when searching for a replacement ecu.
