Syked ECU, 97-99 Neon 2.4L DOHC Swap

Model Number: 221296-9799-2.4

Are you doing a 2.4L swap into your 97-99 Neon? Worried about swapping the multiple pins in order to get it running correctly? Syked Tuning has developed a plug-n-play ECU that does not require you to re-pin your ECU connector! This ECU is specifically designed for a 2.4L N/A swap only!

This ECU will work on 97-99 Neons equipped with a manual transmission.

These are OEM ECUs that have been re-flashed with Syked Tuning's coding, and have the following benefits:

  • Increased rev limiter to 7800 RPM
  • Improved fuel maps that take advantage of 93 octane gas with more timing.
  • Improved throttle response, more horsepower and torque.
  • No Purge System Monitoring
  • No EGR Valve Monitoring
  • No Speed Limiter

Designed for off road use only.

This item is purchased outright. You do not need to return your PCM.

  • All Syked ECUs are cleaned with a wire brush and compressed air.

I see in your product description that you do not have to swap the pins with this ECU, but what about the cam magnet? If your using 2.0 cams you have to swap the magnet, will you still have to do this with this ECU?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

Yes, you would need to rotate the cam magnet if you wanted to use 2.0 cams.

This pcm is designed for those that want a very straightforward, easy wiring job swap performance pcm with 2.4 cams.

What if I have been running a 2.4 with the pins already swapped, would I have to swap it back the original way or is there an ecu that supports it this way already?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

If you have already swapped the pins, then you should just get the 2.0 first gen Neon computer.

I see this is for 97-99 I have a 96 I'm doing a 2.4 swap on I got the 2.4 from a 98 stratus and I got the wiring harness from a 98 dohc neon will this computer work for my swap?
    1 Answer
    • customer service rep

If you have a 97-99 Neon harness, along with a 97-99 engine with sensors, those would work great with this computer, however the 96 could have some different wiring and the connector may need to be re-pinned as think some of the 96 wires are in different order.

On my 2.4 swap this computer works great for straight NA. But i plan on using N2O as well, is the timing curve to aggressive for say a 50-75 shot?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

We have not tested nitrous with the Syked ECU, but we can advise you that we would recommend definitely not doing a 75 shot. If you are going to try nitrous, start with a small shot and monitor your air/fuel mixture ratios to make sure its running safely.

Is here a pcm that has 2.4 but less aggressive timing for boost. I do have low compression pistons and can get 93 oct anywhere in MD.
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

No, all of the pcms we currently offer are designed for non turbo use and have aggressive timing to make more power.

Is this for a stratus 2000 dohc 2.4?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

No, definitely not. This is for 97-99 Neons, with the Stratus 2.4 engine swap. The wiring is different on the Stratus and this is not compatible.

Do you still have to switch around the injector harness with this ecu when doing a 2.4 swap?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Nope, like it mentions on the product page, this is plug and play. This is for those of you with a 2.4 and are using 2.4 cams. Just plug this pcm in with your Neon wiring like normal, do not change any wiring, do not change any cam sensor magnet orientation, etc, and your car will run with this. Cant get any simpler than this.
  • Donald Henderson
Can you use less then 93 octane with this Ecu?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

You could, but it would be a waste of potential. The ECU wont be able to take advantage of increased timing with lower grade fuel. It will still run, but you wont make the power you should/could.
  • Derek W.
Will this work with a 2.4 swap and ITBs?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

I dont think so. ITB's will flow way more air than a stock intake manifold, and your air/fuel ratio's will be off. For your Neon to run properly we would advise you to use a Megasquirt system, or some other advanced tuning option.

Could I get a 2.4 swap ecu with crower stage 4 cams?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

You could, but most people with 2.4 swaps are now using the 2.0 performance computers and then doing the spark plug wire/injector swap and cam sensor magnet rotation.
