For many years, we offered the Hondata Heatshield Intake manifold gaskets for the 95-99 Neon and the 03-05 SRT-4/03-09 PT Cruiser Turbo.

The gasket did the job well for us, insulating the intake manifold from absorbing heat from the extremely hot cylinder head.

Fact: For every ten degrees fahrenheit rise in intake temperature, air density drops 1%. The hotter the air, the less fuel the computer injects to compensate for reduced oxygen. Around town, testing has shown an average drop of around 15 degrees F which is good for around 3 percent power increase. In certain conditions a 45 degrees F drop has been measured.

Fast forward to 2024, and Hondata discontinued their gaskets. We decided we would make our own.

There were two issues that we wanted to improve on.

1) Since Hondata used the factory intake manifold gasket design, the Hondata gasket was extremely thin in width, especially around the ears of the intake manifold. Because these gaskets compress slightly when the manifold bolts are torqued down, we had some customers break the ears off their intake manifolds because the gaskets collapsed before achieving the proper torque spec. Since we have a lot more material around the bolt holes, we have addressed this issue.

2) Since Hondata's design was so thin in areas, we noticed when we would remove intake manifolds that some of the gaskets were bowing outward, which we did not like. We have made our gasket much thicker all around, to use all available surface area for sealing, eliminate this problem and leaks.

Other benefits of this gasket:

  • Reusable gasket, no need to buy a new OEM gasket every time the manifold comes off!
  • Larger ports for the intake passages means it works even with large ported cylinder heads!
  • Thicker material around bolt holes gives additional strength and helps prevent cracked manifold ears
  • This gasket is installed all by itself, no other gaskets needed.

This gasket fits:

  • 1995-1999 Dodge/Plymouth Neon 2.0 Dohc
  • Various 1995-2000 Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth 2.4 non turbo engines
  • 2003-2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4
  • 2003-2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.4 Turbo

This gasket can fit if its modified on:

  • 1995-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0 non turbo - if you cut the coolant passage off of the gasket
  • 1995-2005 Neon 2.0 Sohc/Magnum - new holes need to be drilled to use this gasket, but the intake ports, and two holes on the gasket line up. See our photo attached of Magnum manifold with the gasket.

Note: some customers have told us they noticed pitting around the thermostat/water outlet on their cylinder heads. We recommend using either gray or black RTV on any pitted surfaces during installation to ensure a good seal.
