We're fully committed to making the Dodge Hornet with 2.0 Liter engine more fun to drive, and making more horsepower. We've already made our own silicone high flow intake piping, blow off valve, and we worked with Green air filters to make the very first high flow air filter for the Hornet. So we began to look at other ways to make more power and found that the stock piping that takes pressurized air from the turbocharger to the throttle body could use some improvement.
We found that the stock pipe was short, and direct in its path to the throttle body, however, after cutting open a factory pipe, we noticed that the inlet of the pipe had large casting ridges that impeded air flow. We also noticed that the stock pipe went from circular, to squished oval, and then back to circular in shape. There were also weird indentations that look like they were designed for attaching a vacuum fitting but nothing was attached. All of these impede air flow, slow turbo spool and reduce horsepower.
So we studied the clearance under the stock airbox, and designed a new, heavy duty gauge aluminum pipe, which has nearly a 40% larger inlet size. We created nice smooth bends and created custom silicone couplers that funnel the turbo output smoothly into the pipe with no airflow interruption from the piping bead roll. This custom silicone coupler also has to have a twist to it to have clearance going around the ignition coils that are fairly close.
We then tested the prototype piping kit and found that we had a very nice increase in power and torque, and an improvement in throttle response. We saw a gain of 9 horsepower and 11 lbs of torque at the wheels.
Below is a quick review by Andrew Petersen posted on a Hornet Facebook group after installing the MPx Turbo outlet to Throttle body pipe as well as the Hornet blow off spacer:

So happy with it. Definitely some more pep in the step and builds boost quicker it seems. Currently driving around listening to BOV and giggling like a child.
This kit comes with a beautiful, heavy duty wrinkle powdercoated finish. All clamps are included, and after extended testing with our Hornet we have not had any check engine lights. This piping kit will work fine with the factory air box as well as with the MPx high flow intake pipe.
Be sure to check out the images we have uploaded of this kit, as well as the cutaway stock pipe photos.
