Model Number: 220116-STAGE2

The AGP Stage 2 Wastegate Actuator is designed to be used with the 03-05 Neon SRT-4/2003-2007 PT Cruiser stock turbo and includes an 12 psi spring. (Factory is basically 6-8 lb)

Installing this wastegate actuator will increase boost across the board and improve throttle response.

This wastegate actuator is ideal for the following scenarios in which you want higher boost and:

  • A stronger WGA with an appearance similar to OEM equipment.
  • Looking for a less expensive alternative to the fully adjustable AGP WGA, without the benefits of interchangeable spring pressures.
  • Easy plug and play and a perfect compliment to a Diablosport Tuner.
  • You can pass visual inspection, if you live in a state with strict emissions testing.
  • When installing this, you will need to adjust the turnbuckle on the end of the rod until the wastegate rod needs to be pulled very hard to go on the wastegate flap rod. After you are done installing the wastegate, take the car for a drive and test the car out. If the car builds boost slower than expected, the rod needs to be adjusted shorter for more boost. If the car builds too much boost then you can adjust the turnbuckle to make the rod longer for less boost.

Sorry for the dumb question, I'm new at this! XD so will this product hold more boost then the stock one? Or is it the same?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Yes, this part is designed to create more boost, and build up boost faster.

Is the only difference between this WGA and the AGP WGA the fact that it isn't adjustable with the interchangeable springs? I'd like to go for a sleeper look and would pair this with the Diablosport Tuner.
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

That is the primary difference. The 8 psi spring Stage 2 wastegate actuator works fantastic with the Diablosport tuners, and is even more affordable than the regular AGP wastegate actuator.

how do you adjust this wastegate?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

There is an adjustable turnbuckle on the end of this wastegate. You simply turn the turnbuckle to shorten the rod and make more boost, or lengthen the rod and make less boost. If you want to make adjustments you would take the turnbuckle off the wastegate rod, make your desired adjustment and then reinstall the wastegate onto the rod.

Will this WGA allow my stock turbo to increase boost to 18 psi. Will I have to change injectors and MAP sensor. I have an 06 PT Cruiser GT.
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

This wastegate will allow you to possibly spike to 18, but its really designed to build up boost faster, and also allow for an additional 3-4 psi of boost. You do not need to change injectors or map sensor, but at minimum you should be using a air/fuel ratio gauge to monitor the engine to make sure its running safely at your boost level.

Is this wastegate actuator controlled by the PCM? I know some actuators you actually by-pass the PCM control.
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

This wastegate should be used on PCM control and connected to the factory wastegate line.

I have a stage 2 set up (pcm, injectors, 3bar...stock turbo) i am not sure if i have a stock wastegate or a stage 2 wastegate. How do i tell the difference?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Use a air compressor with a gauge and regulator. Connect the wastegate to the pressure line and increase the pressure. If the wastegate looks like stock and opens at 8-10 psi its stage 2. If it opens at 4-5 psi its a stock turbo wastegate actuator.

Do you have to get a tune for this wastegate or can I just put on and go?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

You can use this wastegate actuator with a stock pcm and it will work fine, or use it with a Diablosport tune, or an old Mopar stage 2 pcm.
    • David
Hello, do I need to do a "4mm preload" on this actuator after installing as you would with the Mopar Stage 2 actuator? Or can I install without having to preload? Thanks
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

All wastegate actuators need preload, otherwise, they will not pull the wastegate flap tightly closed. If not preloaded, you'll have very slow build up of boost pressure, and lower boost pressures. This is fixed by simply adjusting the wastegate rod until the flap cannot be pulled any further.
    • Blas Phearson
does this already have the preload set when its shipped?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Preload, is a term to explain the tension between the wastegate flap rod, and the wastegate. Its like if you were to install a automatic door closer on your front door at your house- you'd need to adjust the door closer mechanism so that it pulls a certain amount to close the door and seal it properly. Same concept here. This wastegate and all others when installed, need to have a certain amount of preload to make sure its closing the wastegate flap properly. If not, then it will not build boost correctly. So, the 4mm refers to you installing the wastegate, and then tightening the rod by 4mm from its install point.

I'm new to using Diablo tuner, I still need to upgrade my wastegate for more boost????
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

The Diablosport tune is made for use with the factory wastegate actuator. However, you can use an aftermarket wastegate actuator to have the boost build up even faster. You have to be careful to not have a spring much higher than the factory actuator, or else you'll have more boost than the Diablosport is designed for, and could be running lean. Thats why most of the SRT-4 wastegate actuators now are pre-installed with a spring pressure thats about 20-25% stronger than factory.

Just bought a new OEM replacement for my '04 PT GT and was wondering, if I get this, whether I need to upgrade the blow-off valve to compensate for the boost upgrade. If so, what would work best?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Its not necessary to change your blow off valve when you have a new turbo, however, the higher the boost levels you have, the better it would be to have a stronger blow off valve. Either something bolt on like the TurboXS SML valve or an aftermarket blow off valve and piping kit.

      Is this wg adjustable?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Yes, the wastegate has an adjustable turn buckle and jam nut that can allow adjustment and the turnbuckle to be locked into place you have it set where you want it.
