We now carry Koni 5-Way Adjustable Strut Inserts for the 03-05 Neon SRT-4 (non-ACR)

Koni Sport Shocks vastly improve the handling characteristics of any street vehicle while still offering reasonable ride quality. Factory shock absorbers usually cannot handle the stiffer spring rate of an aftermarket lowering spring and will tend to 'blow out' quickly. A Koni Sport Shock used in conjunction with an aftermarket lowering spring will provide superior handling from the street to the autocross grid to the track without giving an overly harsh ride.

Koni Sport Shocks Feature:

  • External adjustability (certain applications are double adjustable for rebound and compression)
  • Twin-tube low pressure design
  • Significant improvement to handling
  • Re-buildable and re-valvable for custom setup
  • Recommend for use w/ lowering springs
  • Yellow exterior finish
  • Here is a review of these Koni inserts sent to us by Richard that installed these into his Neon SRT-4:
"The Koni's were delivered on Friday (that was fast) and I got them installed on Saturday. I must say, they are fantastic! Since I had the correct tools ready to use, installation wasn't difficult (not as easy as a strut assembly swap out, but that's not an option for these cars at this point). I'm very happy with the handling and ride with them."

Your OEM strut consists of two parts. A inner shock cartridge, and a stamped steel outer shell with spring perch. In order to use these inserts, you would cut the top of the strut, remove the worn out OEM shock cartridge, and then replace it with this Koni cartridge. Then put the spring, and strut mount together again, and reinstall. Instructions and templates are included. Any good mechanic shop that knows how to do suspension work can do this install.

This price is for a complete set of (4). If you do not need a complete set, please contact us by phone to discuss.

The rears have been discontinued! We only have fronts available!

How good are they with the Eibach Sportline lowering springs. I have them on now with factory struts and it bounces all over the place and I hate it . Will these make the ride alot more comfortable and not as bouncy?
      1 Answer
      • Modern Performance

Your ride is bouncy probably because your factory struts are now 7-9 years old and are worn out. Yes these will help immensely as they are new, and have adjustable dampening for you to adjust to your liking.

I'm interested in these but the install sounds complicated and I'm not that handy. Would any mechanic be able to do the install or would I need to find a specialized speed shop or the dealership?

Instructions and template are included. Any good mechanic can do this install.

How do these compare to coilovers from companies such as BC or Megan. And how well do these struts work for autocross and daily driving and how long do they typically last before they need to be replaced?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

These are quite different than coilovers. Because, these are primarily designed for someone running stock springs that wants a more firm suspension, or maybe with a minor drop for use with lowering springs. Coilovers are typically a much higher spring rate, for better handling but worse ride quality than a oem strut and spring type setup. Coilovers allow infinite customization for height and rebound/compression adjustment as well. These only allow for rebound and compression adjustment.

When is says that the strut typically works better with after market lowering springs is there a brand or specific spring that I should use for daily driving and auto cross racing?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Koni recommended aftermarket lowering springs however they did not state specific springs. We would just recommend using springs that do not lower too much, ie, try to use springs that do not lower more than roughly 1.5-1.7 inches. The Eibach pro kit springs are what we would recommend.

Can you run stock springs with these srt4 inserts since the mopar factory struts are not available?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Yes. These inserts will work fine with any OEM spring, or OEM style spring that works with factory struts.
